Hunting Information

Anyone that knows about hunting knows that being successful at hunting is very similar to real estate. Location, location, location. This property is small but the very back corner is in a funnel like no other I have ever seen. If you check out the aerial photo you will see there is one strip of woods that comes all the way from Trents Ferry Road and this strip of woods acts as a funnel to put the deer right past my box blind. The box blind overlooks the creek bottom at the rear of the property. All of the deer you see below were either shot from the box blind or from an area within 100 yards of the house. The house is located in Bedford County which always ranks 2nd in the state for the number of deer killed. I have lost track how many does we have shot from the box blind but I would estimate it is probably between 25 and 30 in the last 5 years.

Nice 8 point that I shot during blackpowder season. I shot this deer from my famous "box blind." That is my homemade wooden box at the back of my 7.5 acres. Just happens to be in the best funnel possible for that small acreage.

Rebekah shot this deer the first day of blackpowder season. Since Caleb and I were in Iowa she took care of it herself. Unfortunately the drag was all uphill but she handled it. This deer was shot from the box blind on our 7.5 acres.

Rebekah with her first buck. This deer weighed 199 pounds before it was field dressed. Beautiful 9 pointer with a 17 3/4 inch inside spread. !! She shot it with a .50 caliber muzzleloader from about 65 yards away. Pictures on the right show it mounted. This deer came past me when I was hunting about 75 yards behind the house. I could not get a shot. Rebekah was in the box blind and the deer came right past her.
